Treat Yo Self, Love Yo Self, You Do You BOO BOO

If today was your last day on earth, would you be doing what your doing right now? If not, what would you be doing?

I’ve seen and heard this question a lot recently.  It’s interesting, makes me think…it’s a little morbid, but intriguing.  What would you be doing? What would you change about your current situation?  Would you change anything at all?

For me it would probably be to utilize my time and energy more efficiently and effectively.  Reduce the procrastinating and just get to work already! Live my dreams!

I hear a lot of this…

i don’t have time

…on a daily basis.  Sometimes it’s about exercise and fitness, sometimes meal prep, and sometimes about the simple enjoyments of life.  When I hear people say that they don’t have time for fitness or meal prep (for example) I help them find ways to work it into their current lifestyle. When I hear people say that they don’t have time to do the things they want to do and love to do, that just makes me really, really sad.

Perhaps it’s more about changing our current lifestyles to be happier that will result in us all being healthier.

Gosh, life is too short.  Here I am writing this at age 26…but seriously people, can we put more effort into loving life and ourselves?

At the very least let’s take a page from Donna and Tom’s book (watch video above!) Once a year they spend a whole day treating themselves.   So, even though I think we should spend more time on ourselves on a regular basis, at the very least pick one day that is dedicated for you and ONLY you!!! Thanks Donna and Tom <3

We hear the expression…

we can’t love others unless/until we love ourselves

…all the time, but how many of us really take the time and put in the energy to treat, care, and love ourselves?

What does it even mean to truly love yourself?

As I explore this question deeper, for me, self-love is a balance of taking care of your body through nourishing foods and exercise, challenging the mind by learning something new every day, and embracing spirit.  Allowing yourself to let go and just believe that maybe there is something greater, more powerful then us humans.  Just let go.

Side Note: Perhaps your not ready to embrace spirit, and that’s ok! I wasn’t either – but something that helped me was taking “god” out of the equation.  Making it less of a religious thing and more of a spiritual connection between your physical body and the energy that runs through it.

I’ve always felt like I need to know what I’m doing, where I’m going.  The need to be in control 100% of the time 24/7. So yeah, you could say for me “letting go” is a huge part of my “self-love” journey.

The way I am handling it in this moment, is to write. Just start writing, keep writing, and don’t stop.  Putting my thoughts and words out into the world helps me process better what’s going on in me.  Getting my voice heard makes me feel important, worthy.  And believing that by me writing this, right now, I will somehow, someday, help somebody.

I obviously don’t have all the answers, and I’m not sure anyone really ever does. But I know I am closer to understanding what it is to love myself.

I challenge you to do something this week that makes you glow!  Look deeper into who you are, what do you truly want for yourself.  Write it down – Ponder it – Believe it – Do it!
